App developers use Agora’s voice and video SDK to deliver digital experiences for all including those that are hard of sight and hearing

San Jose, Calif., Mar. 2, 2020 — Agora, the leading voice, video and live interactive streaming platform, is leading the charge on enabling developers to create truly inclusive and diverse applications for everyone to engage and interact in online communities everywhere, regardless of geographical or physical limitations.

Agora and Doki Doki, a voice technology company, recently announced a partnership to work with South African National Council for the Blind, to bring Dabel, a video streaming app, to blind users in underserved regions of Africa. Doki Doki’s Dabel app was developed in partnership with Agora as a solution to an industry shift and consumer demand from one-way audio streaming to a more open, interactive social format where users can engage with one another in real-time.

“At Agora we believe that everyone, everywhere should have access to reliable internet connectivity to engage and interact in online communities with their friends, families and peers,” said Reggie Yativ, Chief Operations Officer at Agora. “Real-time communications using SD-RTN™ transcends barriers and difficulties and helps overcome physical boundaries to enable engagement with each other in critical moments when face-to-face communication simply isn’t possible. By leveraging our real-time communications network and embedding our voice and video SDKs into web, desktop and mobile applications, developers can create online experiences that are inclusive of everyone.”

By leveraging Agora’s real-time communications network and voice SDK, Dabel has created a place where users can express themselves with real-time voice features ultimately offering an inclusive app experience for all users including those that are visually impaired.

In addition to the partnership with Doki Doki, Agora’s real-time voice and video SDKs have been used by developers around the world to create inclusive and diverse online communities where users can come together to communicate and collaborate. Recently a member of Agora’s Superstar Developer Program built an online application using Agora’s interactive real-time video SDK to recognize the American Sign Language so that the platform could be enjoyed by and for the hard of hearing community.

“With the increasing consumer demand for video-based content and real-time audio and video media platforms, there is an entire audience of users left unable to partake and enjoy these types of online communities and experiences,” said Shriya Ramakrishnan, an Agora Superstar developer. “By partnering with Agora to use their SDKs, you are able to ensure the creation of a mobile, desktop or web application that is inclusive of all consumers around the world.”
